There are two Face Massage treatments that I offer. Both are intended to help retard the signs of ageing in a non-invasive way by:
- stimulating blood and lymph flow, so boosting the supply of nutrients and removal of waste,
- freeing constrictions and tension in the facial muscles and connective tissue, helping to smooth out expression lines while also allowing for better circulation, and
- providing complete relaxation so the body’s innate healing and rejuvinating powers can come into play.
Indian Face Massage, also known as Facial Rejuvination massage does not use oils or creams. It involves the use of acupressure points to stimulate the flow of energy in the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) meridians running through the head and face and specific massage techniques developed by Kundan Mehta of the London Center of Indian Champissage International.
Ayurvedic Face Massage as taught by the Ayurveda Pura Academy uses warm sesame oil and gliding yet stimulating strokes together with the use of marma points. Marmas are vital energy points in the Ayurvedic tradition that can be massaged to help rebalance body systems. The use of sesame oil helps balance the three Doshas. The treatment includes the scalp and hair. Clients are encouraged to keep the sesame oil in the hair for a few hours before shampooing to leave the hair beautifully smooth and silky.
Clients find these treatments can also help with other issues such as headaches, insomnia and sinus congestion as well as alleviating stress.
With both treatments I show clients points and techniques to use for a few minutes every day to help sustain the results.
Once a client has experienced individual therapies and believes these have a beneficial effect on them it may be possible to tailor treatments using a combination of therapies. A combination of both Face Massage approaches is also possible.
