Reflexology

Reflexology involves the application of specific types of pressure and manipulation to points and areas located on all parts of the feet called reflexes. They relate to the structures, internal organs and tissues of the body in such a way that the body can be mapped directly onto the feet. Similar principles apply to the hands. It's an ancient therapy with roots in Chinese and Egyptian cultures but was revived and developed in the West in the late 19th century. Since that time, those leading the way have identified more detailed reflexes and developed enhanced techniques.

The intention of treatments is to remove energy blockages in the body, while inducing a state of complete relaxation. The ideal is for you to almost drift off to sleep while still being aware of sensations in the body.


Enhanced Techniques

Since qualifying I've continued to study developments in the therapy and include additional approaches and techniques appropriate for each client. These include:

• Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT) to access deeper reflexes by working for a short time on weight-bearing feet or hands. 

• Nerve Reflexology taught by the Belgian reflexologist and manual neurotherapist, Nico Pauly to access reflexes for specific nerves.

• Ayurvedic Reflexology, also known as Kansa Vatki Foot Massage, a very dynamic form of reflexology using warm oil, for an invigorating alternative to conventional treatment.

• Advanced Reflexology Techniques (ART) for deep stimulation of reflexes.

• Acupressure points on the feet and hands.

• Principles and techniques from Polarity Therapy including linking to other parts of the body to help release congestion and improve the flow of energy.

• Use of tuning forks from Sound Therapy to further stimulate the tissues and the flow of energy in the feet; these are specially designed for use directly on the body.
